Times has been released the best & worst thing in 2009. An interesting list covering top feature article in various category. It’s funny to know what Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of World Wide Web said in category “Top 10 Internet blunder” :

In light of Sir Tim Berners-Lee’s admission this month that he should have designed World Wide Web http addresses without the double forward slashes, TIME looks back at some other memorable screwups involving the Internet.

Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the British computer scientist credited with creating the World Wide Web in 1989, doesn’t seem like a man who has many regrets. But he admitted earlier this month at a symposium in Washington that his decision to include those annoying forward slashes in http addresses was made on a whim. If he could change one thing about the Internet now, he says, he would slash the slashes, which are completely unnecessary.

A nice compilation and a nice read for end of year holiday . Take a look the complete list of best & worst list in 2009.

Anyone who asked about the story inside the Linux Foundation Purchase of Linux.com should go to this article. The story started after a controversial feature news posted on January 01, 2009 with the title “a new year, a new linux.com”

Many of you have commented that our NewsVac section hasn’t been refreshed since the middle of last month. Others have noticed that our story volume has dropped off. Changes are coming to Linux.com, and until they arrive, you won’t see any new stories on the site.

For legal reasons, we can’t tell you yet about what’s coming — but we’re not joining forces with Microsoft or any other proprietary software company. As soon as we can tell you, you’ll hear it here first.

The story has been revealed after the announcement about linux.com take over.

Just a memorial moment, The Linux.com URL was a main asset for of VA Linux, SourceForge’s original name. Rumors said that the URL worth for about one million dollars. Linux.com maybe one of such qualified domain name so it would be possible if SourceForge keep it as their main asset.

Asked about the reason why the transfer took so long, Jim Zemlin, the executive director of the Linux Foundation, refused comment. However, Jon Sobel, group president, media at SourceForge, replied, “There was no specific reason. We did our best to preserve the site, but, understanding that this relationship [between SourceForge and the Linux Foundation] would likely come to fruition, we were careful not to do anything that would interfere with its future. We were proceeding with a great deal of care.”

Apple inc today announced the availability of their browser, Safari 4 beta. Safari 4 beta released with new features and bug fixes, including Cover Flow effect (it was my favorite effect on KDE 4 ), full history search, faster Java Script engine with dubbed Nitro, and some new features.

Beside the look and feel improvement, the main feature are adapted Nitro engine, which claimed more faster than their competitors. Safari 4 beta claimed to be runs faster 3X than Firefox and 30X than Internet Explorer 7.

Some feature seems to be clone from another browser. New idea about Top Sites feature as an example, more likely copied from Google Chrome with some improvement. My first impression on Initial install and usage shown that this browser would increase the browser war jargon in the world. It looks pretty, easy to use with faster response and better loading.

If you wish to give it a try, please refer to Safari 4 Beta Download Page. Too bad the Safari 4 beta only available for Windows and Mac
