opensuse-11-release-party

Indonesian openSUSE community (openSUSE-ID) usually organized regular monthly meeting (photo above), an informal event for discuss any openSUSE stuff, describe community plan or introducing and presenting new idea; but with a new year came up, I think it would be better to organized a more serious event, especially for openSUSE-ID activist. After discussion on mailing list, we agree to organized a Hackfest session from Saturday January 03, 2009 to Sunday, January 04, 2009.

The first hackfest intended to discuss some hot topics, e.g :

  • openSUSE remastering with KIWI and YAST Image Creator
  • How to make openSUSE mirror
  • How to make openSUSE 11.1 DVD Repository (oss, non-oss and packman)
  • How to make openSUSE 11.1 LiveUSB (persistent and non persistent)

We would also discuss community planning for 2009, such as :

  • Wiki team, tutorial and blog post around Indonesian blogosphere
  • Community legal aspect (making community foundation)
  • Regular training for openSUSE promo, long-term usage on enterprise scale and support community donation. See our first training report
  • Preparation for openSUSE release party at Bandung and Surabaya

Hackfest will be held at Grha Pemuda & Olahraga (Youth and Sports Building, Indonesia’s State Ministry for Youth Affairs and Sports), Senayan Jakarta.

I’ll be updated with the result of this first Hackfest.
