Google Server ?

December 22, 2009

A friend of mine sent me some pictures and said that the pictures are Google Server. Is it true? Still don’t know whether it is true or just a hoax. Please take a look from this and that source.

Hi,

Hmm… It looks like a hoax to me. I don’t believe that Google would have its brand printed on the chip. As far as I know, they don’t produce any and it would mean they pay a lot to put their name instead of their provider’s ones.

Also, if you look carefully, none of the three pictures seem to match together.

And, at the end, even if it has ever been, it is probably not the case anymore. I mean the hardware is really outdated (global motherboard design, AC power, disks, etc.).

The last one is probably the real one.
Google is known to use off-the-shelf components, rearranged with an onboard battery as UPS.
Components kept together with straps for super-fast substitution of components is just what I would expect from the Google SWAT team 🙂
