What is Compiz Fusion ? Compiz Fusion is the result of a merge the Compiz community plugin set "Compiz Extras" and the parts of the Beryl project that are independent of the window manager core. The two communities have re-united to create a user experience for Linux that rivals anything available on other platforms.
It is important to note that Compiz and Compiz Fusion are not the same thing (see: Compiz Fusion Vs Compiz). There is close co-operation between the developers of Compiz and the developers of Compiz Fusion, though ; in fact, many Compiz Fusion developers are also Compiz developers.
This is the first stable release of Compiz Fusion, the result of more than six months of work and polish. This stable release is based on Compiz Fusion 0.5.2, released on the 13th of August. This release is meant to be used with compiz 0.6.2.
OpenSUSE 10.3 users can used one-clik-install feature provided by Jigish Gohil. Like Compiz-Fusion-KDE which contains KDE and Emerald window decorator, the Gnome version contains GTK and Emerald window decorator. Both the metapackages installs Compiz, Compiz Fusion Plugins, CompizConfig Settings Manager(CCSM), Fusion Icon and Compiz Manager.
OpenSUSE 10.3 and 10.2 users still can be manually installed Compiz Fusion from X11:/XGL build service repository.
