A friend of mine, Muhammad Edwin Zakaria has written a step-by-step tutorial for resolving his problem with openSUSE 11.1. Problem occurred on his sound card with ICH9 chipset.
# lspci | grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
