KUB chicken is a new breed of village chicken resulting from genetic selection by the research team at the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Pertanian, Balitbangtan). This new breed of chicken is called the ayam Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan (Balitbangtan Superior Village Chicken), abbreviated as KUB chicken.
Zeze Zahra started raising KUB chickens about 6 months ago. Initially, Zeze Zahra started with 10 chickens in a small coop near our house. After some time, Zeze Zahra began adding more chickens by building new coops, buying chicks, and even hatching eggs herself. Zeze Zahra has also purchased several high-quality breeding hens and selectively chosen the eggs for hatching. Additionally, Zeze Zahra has a team to help manage our KUB chicken farm.
Zeze Zahra continuously strives to improve the health management of her chickens and ensure that the chickens produced remain healthy and free from disease. This is achieved by controlling the sanitation and cleanliness of the coops, providing regular vaccinations, and taking prompt and appropriate action if any chicken becomes sick.
There have been many obstacles and challenges encountered during the process, particularly in managing feed costs, maintaining chicken health, and balancing sales prices. The process takes time, and that is the art of starting a business.
